Orlík Reservoir

Water reservoir Orlík near the headwater of Vltava is one of the most popular tourist and summer holiday resorts in the Czech Republic. There is a beautiful chateau Orlík in the middle of the dam.

The construction of the hydraulic structure itself took almost 8 years, whereas it was started in 1954. The total water area has 24 square kilometres and it is 74 metres deep. The water reservoir Orlík is a part of the Vltava cascade channel. The body of the dam is the biggest, highest and most monumental within the chain of Vltava dams. The area of the dam is 2,732 ha; the usable reservoir storage is 374.5 mil m2.

There are ideal conditions for recreation thanks to its situation.
